Power Supply for Health Care Center, India

The Swiss Heidi Foundation (SHF), supported by BASAID, has built a Health Care Center in Godaribili, Dhenkanal, Odisha, to address the medical needs of children with Cerebral Palsy and Clubfoot. The construction of the building is complete and commissioning is provisionally scheduled for the end of June 2026. However, the center still lacks a connection to the power grid. Although SHF has secured approval from authorities, it still needs to procure and install a 25 KVA Pole Mounted Substation, PSC poles, and 0.13 km of 55 mm XLPE line work, in order to connect the center to the local power supply.

Upon successful electrification, the center will be fully functional, enabling it to provide specialized clinical services for children and youth affected by Cerebral Palsy and Clubfoot  particularly in the district of Dhenkanal and surrounding districts. It will improve physical strength, cognitive function, and mobility of the patients through rehabilitation programs. The center will also train frontline healthcare workers for early detection and referral to the center. This initiative is expected to benefit 100-120 children with Clubfoot and 600-700 children with Cerebral Palsy, providing long-term and sustainable treatment.

The total cost for the electrification project of  6’300 CHF will be funded by BASAID.
