Renovation of rural school, Sri Lanka

, , , ,

Damminna Maha Vidyalaya is a remote rural school in the Polonaruwa district of Sri Lanka which was founded in 1986. For almost 30 years, the school has received limited governmental support and no renovations were carried out. Thus leading to its 13 buildings (housing 18 classrooms) being in urgent need of repairs to provide a safe environment for its 498 students and 29 teachers and to meet the ongoing high demand for quality education from the surrounding villages.

Upon completion, the project will result in safe school buildings and enhanced facilities capable of supporting the school’s educational standards and accommodating more students. The project is designed to have a sustainable and long-term impact, aligning with BASAID’s mission to improve the quality of life through education.

The total budget requirements of 8’100 CHF will be covered by BASAID for this project.
