Ecosan toilets for the village Kpélé Tsavié, Togo

Kpélé Tsavié is a village 30 km north way from Kpalimé with a population of about 800 inhabitants. To address the pollution of the fields by human excrements a pilot sanitary facility of 6 Ecosan toilets is planned. These toilets are special in the sense that the feces will be separated from the urine and collected over time. After a certain period they can be used to be spread as a fertilizer on the fields.  The goal is to reduce the pollution of the fields. Included in the project is the education of the beneficiaries on the use of the Ecosan latrine’s products (compost of the feces and of the urines) to improve agriculture.
