Adolescent mothers economic empowerment, Peru

, , ,

Teenage pregnancy in Peru still affects 12.6% of adolescents between 15 and 19 years of age.
The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, through the Queen of Peace Home, protects the rights of pregnant adolescents and mothers by providing them with comprehensive care through safe housing, health, food, basic education and training, and personal empowerment workshops for them and their children. It also believes that this problem must be addressed urgently so that adolescents can continue with their life projects, have access to education and so that their pregnancies or early motherhood does not put them or their babies at risk.
From the Hogar Reina de la Paz we present this proposal with the aim of promoting the economic entrepreneurship of teenage mothers. The goal is to support adolescent mothers so that they can be protagonists of change as well as to defend their rights and the rights of their children. The project also aims to achieve sustainable livelihoods and self-sufficient mothers.
