Community Study Centre and mentorship program in Nairobi, Kenya

Korogocho is a slum community in Nairobi Kenya. With about 100, 000 people in less than 2km square land, it is the 3rd largest after Kibera and Mathare. Smiles Africa is a community based, grassroot initiative, which supports the education and development of children in the Korogocho slums. This expanding program is currently sponsoring 25 children with full education scholarship and mentorship programs so that these children complete their education and acquire important life skills including knowledge on their sexual reproductive health, self-awareness, effects of drugs and substance abuse, environmental issues and waste disposal, hygiene and public health and career choices. The plan of the program is to reach 50 children age 7-18 years from the Korogocho slums by 2021 by providing each child with primary and high school textbooks as well as support them through mentors with social sciences and psychology background.
