Since 2018, the NGO PRIA (Participatory and Reconstitution Institute Action) has been providing institutional care and support to 95 children challenged by Cerebral Palsy (CP) and Intellectual Disability in the Dhenkanal District of Odisha, in the East of India.
The rehabilitation center offers biweekly physiotherapy to improve the physical condition for the children with CP, provides speech therapy for children with speech and/or language disorders, and offers special education to students with learning difficulties, communication challenges, and emotional, behavioral and developmental disorders.
The center also offers regular counseling for parents of disabled children to help them cope with emotional stress and provides them with opportunities to exchange best practices and lessons learnt.
The overall aim of PRIA is to create a balanced and holistic development for the physically and mentally challenged children and for their parents.
With the funding of 9,254 CHF provided by BASAID the center will acquire improved physiotherapy equipment.
