The Divine Hope Vocational Center in Karachi, Pakistan, has provided vocational training in sewing, English, and computer skills for two years now. An obstacle for a smooth teaching program however is the lack of continuous electricity due to prevalent load shedding and frequent power outages, which disrupt the learning environment.
In order to run the vocational center efficiently and continuously it shall therefore be equipped with solar panels to allow stable power supply and enable continuously onboarding new student cohorts. They will learn valuable skills to help them overcome extreme poverty, improve their livelihoods, and provide basic needs for themselves and their families. The use of solar panels also offers a low-cost solution to power outages, contributing to the sustainability and the long-term preservation of the center.
The project is submitted by MaBasel Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women and children in resource-limited settings.
BASAID will support this project with 1’450 CHF.
