Agbodjekpoe, a village about 90 km from Lomé, Togo, suffers from a severe lack of clean drinking water. The village has a population of around 5,000, mainly dependent on agriculture. Water sources are scarce and often contaminated, leading to widespread waterborne diseases. A borehole with a manual pump was built in 2004, but it became obsolete due to poor maintenance and lack of spare parts, forcing villagers to return to unsafe water sources. The project aims to restore the village’s borehole with an electric pump, ensuring a reliable supply of clean water. The local community is highly motivated and willing to contribute, highlighting the project’s importance.
