There are no toilets and no water supply for the young residents of 5 hostels in rural and semi-urban areas in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The young people aged between 10 and 18 are therefore forced to relieve themselves in the open. Such conditions are unsuitable for ensuring basic health and privacy requirements.
The NGO “Rural Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Educational Society” (RRRES) is therefore planning to build two toilet facilities in each hostel in order to guarantee the personal hygiene and privacy of the residents in the future.
As a prerequisite, the buildings will be connected to the water supply and the installation of a 2500-liter PVC tank will ensure the storage of water after being pumped from the distribution pipes into the storage tank with the help of an electric motor. Five water taps are planned on a platform, which will serve as washing facilities.
The project will promote and maintain health and hygiene for the residents in the 5 hostels.
BASAID is supporting this project with CHF 4,000.
