School support in Ati Apedokoe, Togo

School support in Ati Apedokoe

20 villages , 5 schools (e.g. Anyavé, Kokoukopé, Agbatokopé, Holokopé, Agbantokopé, Alasanikopé; Tsimané, Batoukopé) do not have sufficient material and financial means. The creation of local initiative schools in these villages was a temporary solution to compensate for the lack of official schools set up by the national education authorities. These schools are created and managed by village committees of parents who provide educational materials such as books, chalk, blackboards and teachers’ salaries. The burden is heavy for the parents who live from farming or small businesses. The classrooms are the target of bad weather and bushfires, termites, bees and snakes. Goal is to support 5 local primary schools serving children in 20 villages with school material: books, pens, boots, Solar lamps and waterproofs. Establishment of birth certificates, which block the children’s schooling, will enable them to progress to a much more reasonable level up to secondary school. In addition the provision of books could enable a small library to be set up to support the efforts of parents and teachers in reading, writing and arithmetic: the basic foundations of education.
