Production, storage and selling of onions in Maroua, Cameroon

Create income with the cultivation of onions
,

The onion is an edible bulb plant for humans and some animals. It contains a lot of nutrients and medicinal elements. It has been cultivated in the Far North Region of Cameroon for about forty years. Many of the young farmers have seen their turnover increase in recent years thanks to the practice of onion cultivation. 180 ladies/girls in Maroua in the extreme North of Cameroon shall be supported with material and trained to grow, store and sell onions.  Onions have been cultivated in this region for a long time and can be sold all over the year as the selling is not seasonal. Many farmers have increased their income with the cultivation of onions. The goal of the project is to enable an in-come generating activity combined with agricultural training for women: Produce on 2 hectares of surface harvest and store 250 bags of onions per year, over a period of 10 years to make money to support the education of children and for food.
