Extension of the Asha Vocational School in Pokhara, Nepal

,

In 2016, the NGO “HOPE” (Hope for Children in Nepal) began building a vocational school in Pokhara, Nepal, with the aim of training professionally qualified people and retaining them in Nepal. The courses are recognized by the independent, national “Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training” (CTEVT) and the diverse range of courses includes training in electrical trades, plumbing, cooking and baking, computer courses, Montesori teacher training, tailoring and embroidery, bag and jewelry making and beautician training. A special focus is paid to training women.

Since the school’s opening, both the number of students and the range of training courses on offer have steadily increased and with the 2022 school year, the existing building has reached the limits of its capacity. The NGO is planning to expand the current room capacity by 65 % due to the high demand.

Since a room reserve was already been accounted for when the training center was originally built, this will now be used for the construction of 3 additional classrooms.

BASAID supported the original construction of the vocational school in Pokhara in 2016 and will also support its extension with CHF 7,000.
