For over 30 years, the Deutsch-Madagassischer Verein Esslingen e.V. (DMVE) has been committed entirely on a voluntary and private basis to empowering Madagascar’s most vulnerable youth through access to high-quality vocational education. Each year, they support approximately 230 young people in acquiring professional skills across five practical disciplines, alongside academic instruction. Among these disciplines, the kitchen training program plays a crucial role. It offers 30 apprentices annually the opportunity to gain certified qualifications in professional cooking and catering, skills that are in high demand and open doors to sustainable employment. After more than three decades of continuous use, the kitchen facilities have become severely outdated. Both the building and its equipment no longer meet the hygiene and safety standards required by the Ministry and industry professionals. Goal is the renovation of the kitchen facility install new electrical and plumbing system, tile walls and floors, paint, raise ceiling by 1 meter, replace roofing, add more workstations and purchase new professional kitchen equipment. Investing in these young people is one of the most impactful ways to foster long-term change, and continue to offer them the tools they need to build a better future.
