Since 2022, Bolivia has been grappling with deep economic instability, soaring inflation, and an alarming devaluation of its currency. For women living in vulnerable conditions, these challenges are compounded by limited access to education, high unemployment, and a lack of opportunities to build a stable future.
Fundación Huellas y Futuro, with support from BASAID, is leading a powerful initiative in the region of Cochabamba to reverse this reality. Through the project “Soy Mujer, Soy Emprendedora”, 40 women will receive hands-on training in short-term technical skills and entrepreneurship, equipping them with the tools to generate income and become financially independent.
The program offers practical training in:
- Party decoration & floral design
- Knitting & handcrafts
- Manicures & pedicures with modern techniques
- Doula support for prenatal and postnatal care
These careers are selected for their low startup costs and high local demand, allowing graduates to quickly enter the workforce or start their own micro-businesses. Each participant will also receive legal and financial coaching, startup materials, and visibility through digital platforms and local networks.
This is more than a training program—it’s a lifeline. It gives women a dignified way to provide for their families, protect their children, and regain hope in a time of crisis.
