AFAD is an organization that promotes a humanized, respectful, and inclusive approach to childbirth in Togo. The lack of drinking water makes it very difficult to work in aseptic conditions, with the risk of exposing the working environment to infections, the lives of the women giving birth and those of their babies to nosocomial infections, not to mention the staff themselves, who are in vital need due to the lack of water in their workplace. The water currently used by the Yaha Dispensary is rainwater collected in a tank shared with the nearby elementary school. A borehole equipped with a solar pump will be installed at the Dispensary. This water project is located in the district of Kpélé, which has a population of 5,200, including an elementary school with 325 pupils. Situated in a very remote area in the Kpélé district, 218 km from Togo’s capital, Lomé.
