BASAID funded between 1988 and 2004 the construction of 5 rural youth homes. It has been more than 30 years since these homes have given the opportunity to many young people throughout the region to have access to education. With the implementation of school busses, the boarding service for young people is no longer needed.
The aim of this 3-phase project is to redefine the purpose of the 5 homes. BASAID’s contribution will facilitate the implementation of the first phase oriented to the improvement of the infrastructure and equipment of the 5 homes. A regional model will be created for rural training centers on sustainable agriculture, food security, biodiversity care. This is a contribution to the mitigation of the effects of climate change and to the reinforcement of rural identity and territorial roots in the Orient of Caldas. The project is currently in the second year.
