Getting ready for employment, Cambodia

, ,

After finishing school, youngsters have little chance of finding paid employment. ‘Lack of job experience’ is one of the reasons employers are reluctant to contracting them.

Under the label ‘Pathway to Employment’, the program executed by Children’s Future International (CFI) in partnership with BASAID has delivered successful experiences incorporating new professionals into the workforce for several years today.

Support is provided to post-secondary students for 1 or 2 years as they move into the workforce. Interns get ‘hands-on’ working experience in professional settings. CFI senior staff coach the interns. This track record of job experience is crucial for youngsters applying for employment. Students from CFI’s ‘Pathway to Employment’ program are twice as likely to find paid and skilled work compared with other graduates in Battambang who have had no work experience.
