The Basaid board discussed article of Nobel Prize winning economist Angus Deaton

The Nobel Prize winning economist Angus Deaton published a critique of development aid on the 16th of June in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ). The executive board of Basaid has reviewed and addressed the criticism, which mainly deals with development aid given by governments.

The board discussed the objectives and scope of our projects:
  • We wish to support niche projects in specifically declared fields.
  • These should be sustainable, or extend the sustainability of previous projects.
  • We, and the local organizations we support, should not be dependent on government agencies.
  • Projects with a budget of more than 30kCHF should be considered only in exceptional circumstances.

☛ Less than 5% administrative costs

☛ Over 15783 supported persons
