basic aid community

BASAID is different
What is the difference between BASAID and most of the other organisations/associations? 1.Size of the projects
The majority of our projects are small. Other organisations look for larger projects of development aid which require less organisatorial expenses on spot and can adsorb larger funds. But it is a fact that these smaller projects which originate from the local initiative are strongly supported locally and show sustainable results.

2. Support on honorary basis
The active members of BASAID work on an honorary basis. We have no expenses for salaries or administration. Projects in the different countries.

3. Support from Novartis, Syngenta and “spin-off” companies
BASAID is autonomous and independent from the Basel companies. We get never less the moral and financial support of the management of Novartis, Syngenta and other “spin-off”-companies. Our active members can for instance use their infrastructures (Tel., FAX, e-mail, etc,) during the working hours or for occasional meetings.
Novartis generosity doubles the funds collected every year from your (eventually increased) membership fee.

4. Minimal costs for the administration
Funds need not to be diverted for the administration. Limited funds are used for the information to our members ( 2 Bulletins every year and maintenance of the home-page ). Every financial support flows practically to 100% into our projects.

5. Our know-how from specialists
We can revert to the know-how of specialists working in our companies ( e.g. medical, chemists, engineers, technicians ). We were even able to support with the input of our members planning and realisation of operating rooms and analytical laboratories in the children hospital of Can Tho(Vietnam). Up to more than 7 Mio children have been treated there since the inauguration.

6. Link between the industry and the poorest on our planet
BASAID aims at increasing the confidence in both directions. We like to realise projects that are effective, efficient and particularly sustainable in order to increase the confidence of the receivers. On the other hand we to inform our members ( actually approx 2700 ) and with the home page also everybody on the local situations. Members in the EU receive twice a year our Bulletin with longer reports on a few particular successful projects. This information shall help to understand the needs of the world of the underpriviledged and increase the support of our organisation.
